Глагол узнать передается на английский язык глаголами know, recognize, learn и find out. Know и recognize взаимозаменяются в значении 'узнавать, признавать что-л. или кого-л.' Know в значении 'узнать' часто употребляется в отрицательных предложениях в сочетании с again: узнать кого-л. по голосу – to know a person by his voice, не узнать кого-л. – not to know a person again. Узнавать в значении 'получать сведения о чем-л.' никогда не передается глаголом know и соответствует английским learn и find out (смешение глаголов know и learn является одной из частых ошибок изучающих английский язык).
